HELPING HAND, Tipperary, Ireland

Description: Given the fairly general job title, the schedule looks pretty regimented with set duties scheduled from 7am to 5pm, but if you fancy riding seven horses a day, this one could be for you. A family-owned stable yard based in Templemore, Co. Tipperary, is looking for support on the farm. Applicants need to be flexible, but prepared to work six days a week. Accommodation will be provided as well as a weekly salary that isn’t stipulated. As the family is offering to facilitate support for improvements in language skills, it would seem the position is open to non-English speakers.

SENIOR GROOM/DEPUTY YARD MANAGER, Whichford, Warwickshire

Description: Want a chance to join the team of rising star Tom Bird? Then form an orderly queue here… if you are female. Shared accommodation is part of the deal, hence the female stipulation. Tom Bird was the youngest rider at Burghley last year, so given the competition level, this could be an exciting opportunity. As a senior groom and deputy yard manager, the ideal candidate will have the knowledge and experience needed to supervise in the absence of the yard manager. Other duties include preparing horses for competition, and anyone interested must be able to drive.

EVENTING GROOM/RIDER FOR 4* COMPETITION YARD, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk

Description: While mentioning that attitude is more important than skills, it’s clear that this job needs a pretty experienced hand. A sport horse stud - that is home to some 90 horses including competing performance horses, brood mares, youngsters, and foals - is looking for a groom who can also ride. The job spec is pretty varied from clipping and exercising to helping with stud work and the routine maintenance of the yard. Some tractor work might also be required and the right candidate will be a non-smoker.

Description: The Glenshiel Pony Trekking Centre is looking for someone to join the team over the summer, asap. Said to suit someone fun and friendly who loves riding and caring for ponies, the job involves taking up to six people hacking at a time. As such, this will suit a confident, outgoing equestrian who likes to chat to strangers while introducing them to the wonderful scenery and wildlife of Glenshiel on the west coast of the Scottish Highlands.  With an opportunity to bring on younger horses anyone with that level of experience will be at an advantage. Candidates also need trek leader and first aid certificates.
