FULL TIME MOUNTED KEEPER, Wimbledon and Putney, London

Description: This looks like a cracking job and possibly the best way to enjoy Wimbledon without being a womble. As a mounted keeper, you will be responsible for conducting mounted horse patrols, ensuring the Commons remain free from crime and antisocial behaviour; the education and enforcement of byelaws and regulations and undertaking related tasks to support estate management. The ideal candidate will be a competent rider, able to control a horse when dealing with incidents, someone with a good working knowledge of horse husbandry and stable management, and – essentially – someone who has worked in enforcement such as the police or the military. Teamwork and excellent people skills are also essential requirements, as is the ability to work weekends and bank holidays, and a full, clean driving licence. Be warned: riding ability and fitness levels will be evaluated during the interview process. The pay falls into the £31,819 to £39,773 bracket, depending on experience and background. Accommodation will be provided, as will a uniform. If patrolling 1,100 acres of woodland, heathland, scrubland, wetland, recreation areas, playing fields, and a golf course, all on horseback, sounds like your kind of gig, act fast – the closing date for applications is 19 July.
